Showdown Poker Privacy Policy

About the app

Showdown Poker, which appears as "Showdown" on your home screen, is a single player card game. It has no accounts, no multiplayer, no chat, no user profiles and no purchases. The game itself can be played fully offline. If a crash report is generated while you have no connection, it is held on the device and uploaded the next time you are online.

What stays on your device

Your game settings and progress, such as your chosen bot difficulty, target score, move timer and whether you have seen the tutorial, are stored locally on your phone. We cannot see them and they are never sent to us.

Removing the app deletes its local copy. Be aware that Android and iOS may include app settings in their own device backups, depending on your system settings, which can mean they reappear if you reinstall. That backup belongs to your operating system and your own cloud account, not to us, and we have no access to it.

What leaves your device

Crash and error reports

Showdown uses Google Firebase Crashlytics. When the app crashes or hits an error, it sends a diagnostic report so we can find and fix the bug. A report contains:

• The error and the stack trace, meaning where in our code it went wrong
• Device model, operating system version and app version
• Device state at the time, such as free memory and whether the app was in the foreground
• A randomly generated installation identifier, so we can tell whether one device crashed fifty times or fifty devices crashed once

These reports are pseudonymous rather than anonymous: the installation identifier does not tell us who you are and is not connected to any account, but it is still an identifier. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we use this data only to keep the app working. You can read what Google collects in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Firebase Crashlytics retains crash data and its associated identifiers for 90 days, after which removal from Google's live and backup systems begins.

Crash reports are processed by Google and may be stored on servers in countries other than your own, including the United States. Google's handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

What Showdown does not collect

No name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files, microphone or camera access, precise or approximate location, payment details, or advertising identifiers. There are no ads and no analytics product measuring how you play.

The app requests no sensitive Android permissions. It does use ordinary network access, which is what allows a crash report to be delivered.

Why we are allowed to do this

For anyone covered by the UK or EU GDPR, our legal basis for processing crash diagnostics is legitimate interest: we need to know when the app breaks in order to keep it working and secure. The data involved is minimal, it is not used to identify or profile anyone, and you can object to it at any time by contacting us.

Children

We take children's privacy seriously, and we designed the app so there is very little to take. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Where a child uses the app, the only data leaving the device is the crash diagnostic described above, which we use solely for internal operations: keeping the app functioning and fixing faults. We do not use it to build profiles, to advertise, or to contact anyone. The app contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no social features, no chat, no user-generated content and no links out of gameplay.

The app never asks a child for personal information and we never receive any, so there is nothing held about your child for us to hand over or erase. If you are a parent or guardian with a question or concern about any of this, email support@digitalmidges.com and we will answer it.

Who else is involved

One provider, which processes data on our behalf under its own privacy terms:

• Google Firebase Crashlytics, for crash reporting. See the Firebase privacy documentation and the Google Privacy Policy.

We require service providers that process data on our behalf, including Google Firebase, to provide the same or equivalent protection described in this policy.

We do not sell personal data, we do not rent it, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks. We do not use it to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

How long we keep things

Data stored on your device is yours. Uninstalling Showdown Poker removes the local copy, though operating system backups may remain as described above. Anything held on our side is kept only for as long as it serves the purpose described above.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access a copy of your data, correct it, object to or restrict how we use it, or complain to your local data protection authority. Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws have comparable rights, including the right not to be treated differently for exercising them.

In practice there is very little here to exercise them against. We hold no account, no email address and nothing else that identifies you. Crash reports are tied to a random installation identifier rather than to a person, so we have no way to find, produce or delete the reports belonging to any particular individual, and we will not pretend otherwise. Google removes crash data on its own 90 day schedule regardless.

Security

Data sent between the app and any service travels over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, but collecting as little as possible is the strongest protection we can offer, and that is a deliberate choice rather than an accident.

Changes to this policy

If we change what the app collects, we will update this page and move the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be stated here rather than made quietly.
